Carbon Credit Intermediary

Context

This carbon credit intermediary needed to scale their organisation as they mobilised $1billion of a $1.5 commitment. They aimed to build a global team but faced a complex hiring landscape: a competitive market and the unpredictability of a start-up environment. The roles were niche. With a need for public and private experience, carbon projects expertise in region, and transactions experience across a number of roles, there were very few like-for-like hires in the market.

Solution

We initiated the team build in phases, focusing on critical roles while ensuring all functions were supported. This approach allowed us to understand the organisation’s DNA as they went from being founder led to build out and systemisation. As the search evolved, we adapted by taking a more flexible approach, targeting exceptional candidates who could deliver on the strategic objectives, but were outside of the job descriptions. We leveraged our network to identify individuals who could evidence thrive in an unstructured and rapidly changing environment to de-risk the recruitment.

Impact

We completed the project with 11 key hires, including a diverse team with eight women. We built social capital across the carbon credit intermediary's global hubs and our targeted approaches from mid level to C-suite, enabled us to move exceptional talent from private equity, top tier consulting and energy venture arms and NbS teams. By shifting the focus from individual roles to team dynamics, we helped ceate a strong foundation for long-term success and growth.
